Manawatu Golf Club (Hokowhitu) has a long and proud history beginning in 1895. Set in very park-like surroundings, the course is held in high regard as one of New Zealands top Championship facilities. The well treelined course is always immaculately groomed with lush well defined green fairways, many features bunkers and smooth well maintained greens. Features of the course include views of the cliffs and river that curves its way round the back of the course. The course is situated within Palmerston North city, but at most positions on the course you would never know it.

Hokowhitu hosted it's first New Zealand Open Championship in 1922 with others following in 1930, 1946,1957, and in 1973 when Sir Bob Charles, our renowned New Zealand left-hander, won the title. Many major championships have been played on the course, including seven New Zeland Amateurs, five New Zealand Ladies Amateur Championships and several North Island Amateur Championships and Interprovincial Championships. The Lawnmaster Classic has been a regular feature since 1985, and is now staged as a high profile Charles Tour event including professional players.
